Food and nutrition services

Rockland County Department of Social Services

Rockland Hunger: If you do not meet our geographical eligibility requirements, please visit this site: https://www.rocklandhunger.org/find-food/ to find a pantry in your area.

SNAP: The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) issues electronic benefits that can be used like cash to purchase food. SNAP helps low-income working people, senior citizens, the disabled and others feed their families. Eligibility and benefit levels are based on household size, income and other factors.

Catholic Charities: Protecting & Nurturing Children & Youth, Feeding the Hungry & Sheltering the Homeless, Strengthening Families & Resolving Crises, Supporting the Physically & Emotionally Challenged, Welcoming & Integrating Immigrants & Refugees

Women, Infants & Children (WIC) of Rockland: Monthly food vouchers, nutrition education, health screenings, farmers’ market coupons, breastfeeding support for pregnant women, infants, children age 4 and under who qualify.

United Way of Rockland County

Rockland Community Against Hunger (RCAH): Founded in 2011, Rockland Community Against Hunger, RCAH, is a collaborative of non-profits and government agencies working together to provide food to over 40 food pantries & meal programs in Rockland County, NY.

211: The United Way 2-1-1 Helpline is a free, confidential, multilingual service to assist the public in finding the answers to a variety of Health and Human Services related questions. All you have to do is dial 2-1-1

NYS Unemployment Services: File a claim online to receive temporary income while you search for a job.

Temporary Assistance for Living Expenses: Temporary Assistance (TA) is temporary help for needy men, women and children. If you are unable to work, can’t find a job, or your job doesn't pay enough, TA may be able to help you pay for your expenses.

Social Security Disability Benefits- SSDI and SSI

Child Support Assistance: The Child Support Program provides custodial parents with assistance in obtaining financial support and medical insurance coverage for their children by locating parents, establishing parentage, establishing support orders, and collecting and distributing child support payments.

Refugee Services: Refugee Services (RS) within the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance is the single state agency responsible for the implementation of services to refugees.
