Volunteer Update, June 2021

Hello, everyone. I hope this message finds you well. We had a busy June with our family numbers staying steady. During our two openings, we provided food to 2,068 individuals from 628 families. This would NEVER be possible without your support. I cannot say that enough. Thank you!

With the end of June, comes the end of school. So I would like to take this opportunity to share with all of you an update on our School Healthy Snack Program. We began the Program in 2018 with Sloatsburg Elementary as our pilot school. This year, we worked with Sloatsburg, Viola, RP Connor, Cherry Lane, George Grant Mason Elementary and George F. Baker High School.

The Program purpose is to provide healthy, individually wrapped snacks to children who are in need ensuring that all students have much needed nutrients during the long school day to help keep them focused and energized. Our schools typically setup a central spot, such as the nurse’s office, where students can go at the start of school to grab a snack or two for the day.

While hybrid schooling had an effect on our Program, you will see from these charts, we still helped quite a few students.

As we move into July and August we plan to continue with our two openings per month. Fresh Express will be the 2nd Wednesday and our Traditional opening will be the 4th Wednesday of the month.

Our volunteer opportunities in July will be:

·       July 13th: Unload and stock for our monthly delivery

·       July 14th: Fresh Express distribution

·       July 26th: Box packing

·       July 28th: Traditional Opening

In other news, we recently updated our website! It has a slightly different look and feel with additional information and photos. Please take a look. You may see yourself in one of the images :)

With sincere gratitude for all that you give to our community.

Respectfully yours,

Joyce
