Volunteer Update, March 2021

April 2, 2021

Hello SFP Board of Directors and Volunteers!

Today, I woke to snow J. But, the warmer months are coming and more people are getting vaccinated! Hoping both will help to slow the growing numbers of COVID cases and bring us closer to our new normal.

As we pass the one year mark of living with the Pandemic, I spent time recapping the last 12 months in a video. If you have a few minutes, please take a look. Putting it together allowed me to spend time reflecting on the Pantry and our work. The underlying theme for me? The people.

You, who provided support and guidance as we reinvented our processes while maintaining safety and dignity for all.

You, who came out and helped during our stocking, packing and distributions in rain, snow and heat.

You, who delivered food to those who could not come to the Pantry.

You, who supported our efforts through monetary and in-kind donations.

And, most of all, those who asked for our help, many for the first time.

In March, we continued to move forward and serve our community. We successfully introduced a second distribution, Fresh Express, focused on providing fresh dairy, produce and meat. This second opening nearly doubled our family numbers from 336 with 1,134 individuals in February to 670 with, 2,157 individuals in March.

For April, we will continue with two openings. Fresh Express on April 14th and our Traditional Opening on April 28th. I look forward to working with you supporting these events.

Wishing all of you a lovely weekend. Please stay safe.

Regards,

Joyce
