Volunteer Update, February 2021

February 22, 2021

Dear SFP Board of Directors and Volunteers,

Happy Snow Day (again)! I wanted to take a few minutes to thank you for your dedication and support. We received two written thank you messages in February which I also wanted to share.

This is a message from Marianne, one of the Social Workers at Suffern’s Esther Gitlow building. Marianne picks up food each time we are open to deliver it to her families who are unable to come to the Pantry themselves. She has been doing this since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is a photo of a Valentine poster from the GFB High School Student Council. It is always so heartwarming to receive these messages.

In February, our numbers held steady at 330 families which equaled 1,111 individuals. We anticipate these client numbers to continue through March.

Changes in March

As the weather becomes nicer, we will shift back to our normal hours of 2PM-6PM. We hope this will give our working families more time to pick-up their packages after work.

We will also introduce a Fresh Express distribution. This distribution will focus on fresh produce, cheese, dairy, bread and meat and is scheduled for March 10th. A sign-up genius will be sent about 1 week before the opening.

Our Traditional Opening will continue which includes distribution of nonperishable bags / boxes plus fresh produce, cheese, dairy, bread and meat. This opening is scheduled for March 24th.

If anyone has suggestions, questions or just wants to chat, please feel free to reach out. Your thoughts and suggestions are always welcome! Stay safe.

With sincere gratitude,

Joyce
